Night Vision Aquatic Film Niore

What better way to test out night vision technology incorporated within a camcorder but to peer inside the world of a freshly scrubbed aquarium? So I’m just fooling around, but I did want to have a better understanding of the infra-red capabilities built into my camera.

The scene was shot without any additional IR light sources, only a single built-in LED. Usable distance appears to be about 12 inches. Close enough to catch a Corydoras catfish scavenging among Java ferns (Microsorum pteropus) in what he thought was total darken. A search of B&H Photo Video’s website offers a full spectrum of IR lighting equipment.

Raw footage was composited on a black background to complement the B/W nature of the night vision video. Appropriately a Jaws midi soundtrack from the Internet completes the mysterious mood of the venue.
