Command History
The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM or SOCOM) the unified combatant command charged with overseeing the various special operations of the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines. Headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base, SOCOM wanted to chronicle its history from formation in the aftermath of the attempted rescue of hostages at the American embassy in Iran to the date of publication in 1999.

This was a high visibility product distributed to leaders in the executive branch and congressional committee members overseeing policy and budget affairs. Produced in full color, four over four with combat photography from the theater of battle, many declassified for this publication. A full bleed perfect bind cover also featured a matte varnish.
Beyond telling the important story of silent warriors who are the tip of the spear, many of whom made an ultimate sacrifice; this publication provides a glimpse into how America prepared itself for challenges that lay ahead in a few short years…
